- Tom has won the J. Donald Coffin Memorial Book Award for Sissy!, two other awards for his second novel, All Parts Together, and the Nelson Poetry Book Award for The Uni Verse. Prior to writing books, he wrote hundreds of articles for such publications as Writer’s Digest, Woman’s Day, Jack & Jill, and many others—as well as short stories that appeared in magazines such as Stamp World and Imagine. His poetry is found in anthologies and published in newspapers. A former editor of South Bay Accent magazine in California and Software Supermarket in Ohio, Tom is active in the Kansas Authors Club and was past president of two branches of the California Writers Club. In addition, he's taught advertising copywriting at San Jose State University and is a requested speaker for organizations such as schools, churches, libraries, and fraternal clubs. He was also a paid presenter for a workshop on writing historical fiction at the East of Eden Writers Conference and gave a writing workshop on fiction writing for Kansas University's Adult Education Department. Currently, Tom is working on his latest novel.

You read on tax day about the Obama's income? A large part from books he has written? You are more prolific than I, but we've neither one gotten into the million dollar category yet. Ah, well, keep trying.

Thanks, Peg. I'm actually not that interested in making a lot of money from my books but would be satisfied getting national distribution and some official recognition that yes, I am a novelist. When you self-publish or publish with a very small press, you're usually ignored by the major media.
